before i go into the ‘but then’…
we’re celebrating melody’s full month a week earlier. and this time round, we’re giving melody a full shave, as what we’re told that megan got curly hair because we didn’t give her a full shave back then… and how i wish to prove them wrong… :P
anyway, a straighter hair is still much more manageable then a curly one, so, no harm trying thou… and before she got it all shaved, here’s melody with her ‘baby hair’…
and here we go… and what do you understand by full shave? in case you dun know, full shave means also shave the eyebrows… that, i also dun know… :P
surprisingly, melody didn’t cry or struggle during the shaving… but i guess she would if she know the result would be like this…
oh, come on, its not done by david gan, whata you expect?
but if i know it would become like this, i would not want her a full shave… haiz…
but she is still the sweetie cutie melody… and dun she look like her sister when she wore her cap…
then its off to my parents’ place to 拜祖先...
and of course, the showy stunt by my dad… oooh, thats a lot of zeros… time for daddy to consider buying a ipad! of course no lah, is all going to melody’s saving account lah!!
appreciate the kind gesture from my dad, but dun it look a little nicer with an ang bao?
anyway, megan got the same ‘no-ang-bao-long’ treatment when its her full month back then… and speaking of megan, despite having no attention for her, she is busy playing with all the ‘ma sak’ at my parents’ place by herself…
and hey, look what we found in megan bunch of ‘ma sak’…
ok lah, its ‘man-made-coincidence’ lah…
and next, its back to our place for a little celebration. and i really meant ‘little’ celebration, cuz this time, we didn’t invite all of our friends as we wanna make it a ‘little’ celebration… else, it wouldn’t be called a ‘little’ celebration, if it ain’t little…
and we never forget those frds back in office, whom kept ‘pestering’ us to bring melody to ‘parade’ when she is full month… we would like to, but for some reasons, or one reason in particular, which will be explained later in the BUT THEN part of this post, we didn’t bring melody to our offices… we do, however, prepare some nicey nice cupcakes for our frds thou…
the creator of these amazing cupcakes is jacelyn (joelle’s colleague) and these cupcakes dun just look nice, they taste nice… or at least, thats the feedback we got, and we didn’t even got time to taste them as we were rushing off once we delivered the cupcakes… rushing where? here comes the BUT THEN…
but then… as melody was having flu and cough for the past few days, thats why we didn’t wanna bring her down to ‘parade’ the offices… and the thing is, melody gotten her flu and cough from megan, who in turn, got it from her classmate back in her childcare center… so we got 2 sick children on hand…
haiz, it almost seems like a monthly thingy for megan to get flu from her classmates… i guess we should seriously consider giving megan, and if possible, melody as well, a flu jab…
anyways, melody was too young to be infected with the flu bug. and so, even when melody was brought to her PD, he didn’t do anything to melody but just some nose drop thingy… which turned out to be a disaster as melody’s condition never improve… as edmund burke puts it, “the only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing”…
and of course, melody’s condition didn’t improve and it gotten so worst that she is having difficulties feeding and her breathing is so noisy as if she is living in a fish tank, breathing underwater…
and during her full month celebration, we finally decided to bring melody down to the KK hospital, A&E… and right after that, melody was admitted to hospital…
poor poor melody, she was put thru a series of traumatizing painful treatments that include the gas-ing section where she was placed in a box like thingy and having gassy medication and oxygen, blasting at her…
this isn’t too bad for her, as it helped to open her airways and hence breathing better during the gas-ing session… but thats not all… she went thru the blood test ordeal, where she was poked twice on her heels… both heels… as its difficult to get blood sample from her… and then, another poke on her tiny finger as the damn blood test center later said, not enuff blood… whata hell you guys expect? 3 gallon of blood from a tiny baby? kaoz…
ok, nevermind, take what you want… afterall, we need to know if she is infected with the brofourwhatthefucksis virus… and hence, melody was put in a 1 bedded room to isolate her from the other patients until all her tests shown negative result… and hence, we get to have a 1 bedded room while paying for a 6 bedded one…
and thats not the real ordeal for melody… the real ordeal is the nose suction session, where the nurses put a long suction tube right thru melody’s tiny nostrils down to her throat, sucking out the mucus that is causing her feeding and breathing difficulties… and this was done like 6 to 8 times per day, mostly at nites as melody’s blockage gets worsen at nite…
i remembered this happened once for megan when she gotten flu when she was very young… after experiencing it, i got so traumatized that once i got home, i got so weaken and could only lay on bed for a few hours… imagine i could jump out from an airplane with a parachute without jelly legs but not when i’m experiencing this… its really traumatizing for me…
and imagine, having to experience this with melody throughout her hospital stay… as joelle is still in her confinement, i had to take over the duty to accompany melody during her hospital stay… and i thot i’m braver this time to experience this nose suction thingy for melody… first nite i’m still taking it well, almost…
but on the second nite, i got so emotionally drained after her 9pm nose suction, i carried melody, looking at her, and i cried… i just sob uncontrollably with melody in my arms that i didn’t hear the nurse coming into the room for melody’s temperature… imagine the nurse’s shock when she saw a full grown man sobbing like a baby… but then, her next few words really send warmth and comfort to my heart… the angel said “are you alright? you take a rest and let me help you carry your baby.”
anyway, the next day, we managed to get a little ‘time off’ from the hospital to send the cupcakes to our frds in office… and then rush back to the hospital to accompany melody… and to our relieve, melody’s report is negative, meaning she is not infected with the brofourwhatthefucksis virus, and she is able to discharge after staying for 3 days 2 nites…
my oh my, we really got a ton of rock off our heart… melody is finally off from her ordeal, and is able to go home! but, our work don’t just stop here…
first of all, melody is still not fully recovered from her flu and cough, and we need to continue taking care of her, monitor closely her progress…
secondly, megan is still coughing and and having runny nose… and so, we drawn up quarantine plans to isolate the sisters when either of them are sick…
and so, here i am, blogging this post from my in-laws’ place… while joelle blogged her post at home…
with this, i conclude my post with some thots…
its really not easy being parents, especially now being parents with 2 children, and one can see how much it can weaken your soul when your children get sick, especially when they’re very very young… but no matter what, every drama has its chapters, and you really need to go thru every chapters to finally get to the happy ever after part, thou our story is still like chapter 2 out of the many chapters… but nevertheless, it made us stronger and more bonded with every experiences we’re going thru… we’re be strong…
and thanks for reading this mass, its really a mouthful post but, i just have so much to pour out… and do click on the ads, as the hospital bills are expected to be coming in next month… :P
Wish Megan and Melody will get will soon. Cheer up.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIm actully one of your ex-colleague in PB. =)
Congrats that you are already the father of 2!
Sadly to hear that they are ill now.
I read from a book saying that
keep giving Anti-Biotic / flu-cough medicine will only prolong the condition and it will not cure, it merely 'supress' the symptom. Use them when is really urgent. They are training their immume system, let their body do the job to fight against invaders.
Let your princess consume more fruits, veg and drink more water plus get more rest is the best way for their immume army (the BEST DOCTOR in the world) to work better. You and Joelle too do the same. Parents must stay strong in order to takecare of them.
Health is in the hand of a parent with WISDOM.
i've read everything yea?
ReplyDeletejiayou! you are a good father and a sweet husband! *big pat on your back*
