nicky's 1st b'day celebration

went out today to irene's place to 拜年, then over to nicky boy's 1st b'day celebration... it all started with my parents coming over my place to go together to irene's place at sengkang... and since my parents are here, its camwhore time again...

then, its all the way to sengkang... and she has a niece (pearl) who is only a few days younger than megan... and when joelle carries pearl, megan gets jealous...

pearl is kinda confused why megan is over-reacting... haha...

 

since its still early, we headed to compass point at sengkang to walk walk... and also to change megan's diaper... and found this nice little diaper changing room...

we then make our way to serangoon gardens country club for nicky boy's 1st b'day celebration... which is a by-the-pool party thingy... and so, the camwhoring family is at IT again...

and joelle took these set of nice shot of megan...

 

 

and lotsa kids around for me to shot... i meant for me to take photo... here's the star of the day, nicky boy!

i'm not too sure of their names, but i think this is nicky's cousin...

and this is nicky's gf...

and of course, sweet gabby...

there is also a nice playroom for the kids to have fun, and the parents to cool off in the air conditioned room... keke

 

now this is a very very cheeky look...

and very colourful mouth-watering cupcakes... oh, did i mentioned, the whole day, i was having this sweet tooth thingy that made me urging to look at cakes whenever we bypass cake shops...

and this bee and ladybird 'landed' on my dining table...

but they were so pretty that we couldn't bear to eat them, and so, ended up together happily ever after...

finally, its time to say goodbye and one last group photo for babies and mums...

 

oh ya, caught this shot of jimmy and gabby strolling by the pool... felt the amazing effect of being parents... :)

the chinese new year,

lasts for 15 days, but we got to return to work on the 3rd day... which is... ahhh, tomolo...

to my surprise, it is a tradition to visit elders on the 1st day of CNY, and or married daughters to visit their family on the 2nd day... whereas the 3rd day, people don't visit friends and relatives due to either of the 2 reasons:

1. its easier to get into argument on this day

2. family who has kin deceased in the past 3 years can visit friends or relatives on this day... or even, to visit graves...

and yet, we're going back to work on this easy to argue grave visiting day... how appropriate... :P

 

that aside, more camwhoring this morning...

 

 

its so tiring to visit relatives during the CNY dayz... phew... better get some sleep before the easy to argue grave visiting day starts tomolo... :S

the chinese new year,

is here, as we just waved goodbye to the year of rat and welcomes the year of ox... last nite's reunion dinner is as usual (1st at my parents' place then joelle's), and megan is so very tired when we reached home late that she failed to wake up at her usual 7am this morning...

nevertheless, we still got to wake up and get ourselves ready to go 拜年... but before that, there is something very important we need to do... that is, megan's ang bao from us!

ever wonder why that ang bao is called 压岁钱? ok, after some 'researches', i found that 压岁钱 is actually the ang bao we give to elders, symbolising age suppression, whereby the elders dun grow older...

but, dun we want our kids to grow up?? so for kids, its actually called 压祟钱! the same pronunciation for  岁 & 祟, except 祟 is actually the name of a demon whom traumatise children in their sleep during cny eve... so, in order to protect the children, lights are switched on thru-out the nite, and kids are made to stay awake, also known as 守祟!

and in a story, in order for to let their kids to stay awake, parents give their kids a red packet filled with coins for them to play thru-out the nite, hence staying awake opening and closing the red packet of coins... and so, 压祟钱 to be given at cny eve... so my dad is correct when he always give us ang bao after reunion dinner!

 

and ever wonder why we need new cloths to wear during cny? cuz we wanna camwwhore!!! haha...

purple is the theme of the day... :P

and so, off we go...

while adults chatted, something caught megan's attention... her fav, or rather, the only cny goodies she can eat is kueh bulu, also my fav! :P

 

finally got a shot of joelle's mum with joelle and megan...

a loooong day for us, especially megan who missed most of her naps... but i dun think she mind, cuz it pays to miss her naps... :P

the chinese new year,

is coming soon... and the decors are in... and this year, we're only decorating the door... very the traditional red red color decors...

oh well, at least the 对联s look modern... :P

 

oh ya, we went for our last CNY shopping at jurong point, and got myself a replacement for my old converse shoe... guess what? yup, another new pair of converse shoe... i'm so into converse... and joelle got another pair of shoe too... the last time she bought shoes was like... last week...

and we got the ba-gua too... darn long queue...

it has been quite a while since we last went to jurong point... especially after its expansion... as we venture around, we got into this learn thru' play shop and bought some toys for megan... what attract us is the wooden vintage workmanship of the toys, and of course, its CNY promotion of buying over $80 to get 50% off...

this is a nice, many-in-one box, bundled with shape blocks, xylerphone, clock and motor skills... and its pooh bear theme! so you get to see little bees as the moving parts for the motor skills...

and hunny blocks too...

and megan adore the new toys we got for her...

and she is so excited that she toppled over with the box... and still playing...

this is the xylerphone part... when we saw this, we knew megan's going to like it... cuz she love making sounds with objects...

especially the one she is shaking... it makes the loudest sound...

i dun know the name of this instrument, but it sure is one loud one...

oh ya, in my last post, i mentioned megan waking in the middle of the nite eh? oh well, one of the comments i got is that it could be due to wonder weeks... in short, this is the time when megan is making a big step in her development! as far as i know, it could be learning to stand! she is trying to stand with support (i.e. the sofa, and now, her new toy) for the past few days and now, she can stand with support confidently and pretty stable too... i guess before long, she will be standing without support le... 

oh well, really glad she adore the new toy we got for her...

 

 

oooh, CNY eve coming soon... better start packet the red packets... :P
